Welcome to the Honors Peer Mentor Program Application!
One of the three pillars of the University Honors Program is building community. To allow students to increase their engagement with peers and grow both in the Program and individually, the Honors Program offers this opportunity to apply to be paired in a mentor relationship as either mentor or mentee.
Becoming a Mentee
To become a mentee, select the "Honors Mentee Application" found in this portal. Mentees can apply to receive a mentor at any time. Honors staff attempt to match new mentees with a mentor within ~1 month of their application being received.
Who can be a mentee?
Honors students in their first or second year at FSU can be mentees; this experience is recommended for students in their first year or who were laterally admitted to the Honors Program. The Honors Program will match students with mentors based on preferences including academic, professional, and social interests.
What are the benefits of being a mentee?
Mentor relationships can help students adjust through periods of transition, develop meaningful friendships, and find opportunities on campus to support their academic, social, and personal growth. Being a mentee can connect you with a like-minded individual who is familiar with campus and your current experiences as an FSU Honors student!
Becoming a Mentor
To become a mentor, select the "Honors Mentor Application" found in this portal. Mentors can apply to be added to the mentor roster at any time.
Who can be a mentor?
Honors students in their second year or later at FSU can apply to become mentors at any time. Applicants are not guaranteed positions.
What are the benefits of being a mentor?
Mentors can contribute to their mentee's academic, social, and personal growth in the periods of adjustment that come with becoming an FSU Honors student. All selected mentors participate in an Honors Program professional development workshop to learn social-emotional leadership skills relevant to their roles and transferable to other endeavors.
Additionally, mentors receive service hours that can be logged in ServScript for their service to the Honors community and are eligible for priority consider in the Honors Colloquium Leader application process.
Additional Information
What is the timeline for this experience?
The Peer Mentor Program application portal is always open and frequently monitored by the Honors Program to select and train mentors and pair mentors & mentees.
How long is the commitment?
Mentor-mentee pairs can maintain their relationship as long as they choose. We recommend committing to at least one (1) semester and three (3) meetings. Honors Program staff will regularly check in with opportunities to reflect on your experience and provide feedback to improve the mentor-mentee experience.
